How to improve the corrosion resistance of the piston rod surface?

Piston rod / chrome bar is a connecting part in most mechanical products widely used at present. However, due to the harsh environment of some mechanical applications, there are also relatively high requirements for the corrosion resistance of the piston rod. So how should we improve the corrosion resistance of the piston rod surface?

Three ways to improve the corrosion resistance of the piston rod surface:


  1, rolling processing:


  Through roll forming, a cold work hardened layer is formed on the rolled surface, which reduces the elastic and plastic deformation of the contact surface of the grinding pair, and can delay the generation or expansion of fatigue cracks, thereby improving the surface corrosion resistance.


  2, chrome plating:


   The piston rod is chrome-plated to have a hard, smooth, and corrosion-resistant surface. Therefore, if you want to improve the corrosion resistance of the piston rod surface, chrome plating is required. After chromium plating, the hardness of the coating of the piston rod can be as high as HV1100, and the coating is smooth, uniform in thickness, and strong in dispersing ability, so that it can be greatly improved in some aspects.


  3, quenching and tempering:


   Quenching and tempering is the quenching and tempering treatment of the piston rod. After the quenching and tempering treatment, it can effectively improve the working strength of the material, help close the surface micro cracks, hinder the expansion of corrosion, and improve the surface corrosion resistance. However, not all piston rods need quenching and tempering, so the quenching and tempering treatment should be judged according to the actual situation and materials.
